Pahsi Lin, the famous taiwanese artist and sculptor.
“What people of the world praise is longevity, wealth and luck. What people like is comfort for the body, delicious food, aesthetic gorgeousness, the satisfaction of their desires and the joy of music.” Each of Pa Hsi Lin’s exhibitions is inspired by the philosophy of this life aesthetics.
The gold in his works is thereby not merely a metaphor about people’s desire of richness, wisdom and Utopia – not merely a statement of the arrogant and kitsch. In fact, the usage of the gold conveys the sensibility of the artist to follow up modern times and to express his sensationons.
If you appreciate the works of the gold series carefully, you will see both majestic and graceful parts. The image is vivid and the golden main characteristic emphasizes the other parts of the paintings. Bai Yu uses the gold, the gems and the colorful ink combining western and eastern paiting methods.
